Bail Notification/Inmate Release
A victim is not automatically notified of bail/prison release. If an offender is released from the Booking Center on bail, the victim will not be notified automatically; however, officers can request a telephone notification with bail information to inform the victim. If an offender is placed in Dauphin County Prison, victims must register for PA SAVIN to be notified through the automated system.
Victims can access the Unified Judicial System to see when court hearings are scheduled and check the status of the case.
Victims of crime can receive case status update, supportive counseling, accompaniment to all hearings, and many other services by contacting the Victim/Witness Assistance Program of Dauphin County. Advocates can be reached at (717) 780-7075.
Victim's Compensation Assistance Program (VCAP)
Victim's Compensation is available to pay for limited expenses directly related to a personal injury crime. Such expenses include funeral, lost wages for injury or court, mileage to court/counseling/doctors, counseling services, crime scene clean up, etc. To learn more about VCAP, click here. A victim advocate can help file VCAP claims and assist with tracking necessary documentation.
